While i was growing up my family an I would move around every 2-4 times but sometimes we would move house not state, so has growing up in this environment has taught me that before you move one must go through everything in that house an ask yourself these question; When was it last used? Do you still like it? will it work in the new house? Two of these questions truly matter the last used and will it work, if your only yes is to the liking it still, it’s time for that item to go.
For me I went room by room and decided what was coming to the new house and what was not, with the no pile you can go through an see if it could be sold/ given away or trashed. I also went through my clothes, shoes, bags etc. Pretty much every single thing. Including our garage, with the help of my mum and friends.
After everything was sorted I took photos of all the items for sale and put them up on Buy Swap & Sell sites. We had to do quite of few tip runs and trips to the donation centre, it took a few weeks to get everything out. We then bought boxes and sorted out what could be packed now or had to wait till closer to the date, after packing the spare room, kitchen (apart from a pot, pan and baking tray) we did the lounge room.
The last things were clothes, tv, rest of kitchen and toiletries. We were still surprised with how much there was to move, but everything had a place an job in our new place. Myself an my partner went over all of our items an only moved the items we required and feel so much better for only bringing the items we love and need.
The biggest thing for moving for me is getting used to new surroundings, it takes a few weeks to understand this is home an make it all work, have homey touches around candles/scents you know, make meals you like. For me also finding the best coffee, eating places, etc.
Make the place home as soon as you can, once you’ve made it home everything else will fall into place, you will be able to place things were they work, put pictures up and rearrange when you need.
Thank you for waiting and please add yourself to the mailing list to be updated.
